Pace is the western gateway to Santa Rosa County Florida and home of the Pace Patriots. With thousands of residents and more pouring in daily, this unincorporated area is poised and ready to begin its first steps to the new future as a new Florida city. Until such time this site is dedicated to providing the Pace residents a consolidated resource of information that any city site should have. Here's to Pace, and its future! With it's excellent Public Schools, Recreation Association, Parks, Police and Fire Departments, Hospital and the very best quality of life. The Population in 1970 figures for Pace were 5,000 compared to over 53,000 today History buffs speak of William Barnett who established Florida Town in 1821, the site of his lumber mill. The rich timberland fed the mill. The town name of Pace did not enter the picture until 1907 when James C. Pace opened the Pace Mill which was in operation for 22 years. Changing to an emphasis of pulp production, the mill reopened in the late 1930’s as the Florida Pulp and Paper Company. |
